By Public Information Officer Clay Myers
January 27, 2016

Members of the Gamber & Community Fire Co. ran a total of 19 calls during the storm from Friday night, January 22 through Monday morning, January 25. A total of 18 volunteer members staffed the station for the storm and 16 of them were able to respond on the apparatus.

The majority of calls were medical emergencies where both the ambulance and a four wheel drive vehicle responded. The Maryland National Guard Humvee ambulance (stationed at Sykesville Fire Co.) was alerted on several of the ambulance calls. Gamber was also alerted to respond into Baltimore County for several medical emergencies.

Non-medical calls during the storm included a gas leak, a chimney fire, a fire alarm activation, and a gas line struck.

Additionally, Gamber hosted approximately 40- 45 Carroll County road crew members during the storm. Members of the fire company and auxiliary prepared several meals for them. They were served breakfast and dinner on both Saturday and Sunday as well as snacks and lots of coffee on both days. Cots were set up in the classroom for road crew members to catch some sleep between shifts.
