Gamber & Community Fire Co. and Sykesville Fire Co. units were alerted for an investigation of smoke in the reservoir watershed Saturday morning, May 6. The call came in for Gamber at approximately 9:20 am. Sykesville units were already on the road looking for the fire in the vicinity of Rt 26 and the reservoir. It turned out to be on the west shore of the lake not far from the Rt. 32 bridge over the lake.

Gamber responded with Brush 135, Utility 13 and Boat 13. Once the location was determined, Sykesville units gained access off of Hodges Rd and Gamber's brush unit was placed in service. Boat 13 was put in the water from the boat ramp at Liberty Rd and Oakland Mills Rd.

Sykesville firefighters used the ATV 12 to get close to the fire but had to hike the rest of the way in to the location due to the steep terrain. They found a pile of logs on fire in what looked like a large camp fire. Boat 13 assisted with water supply and the fire was finally extinguished.
