Gamber Scholarship Winner Announced

Members of the Gamber & Community Fire Co. are pleased to announce that Brittany Hill of Westminster, Maryland has been named the winner of the 2017 Gamber & Community Fire Co. Scholarship Award. The scholarship is sponsored and funded by the Fire Company. This is the second year of the scholarship program. (This scholarship is not to be confused with the Oscar Brothers Memorial Scholarship which is also sponsored by the fire company and funded by the Brothers Family.)

Applicants must be a member of the Gamber and Community Fire Company or be related to an associate or active member of the fire company.

The student must be enrolled in or accepted into an approved EMS or fire related emergency services program at an accredited institution. Alternately, they should be enrolled in or accepted into an affiliated field such as nursing, pre-med., public health, or another related curriculum.

Brittany is currently enrolled in the Paramedic Program at Carroll Community College in Westminster and finishing her first year. She is expecting to graduate in May 2018. She is an active member of the Gamber & Community Fire Company as well as the Gamber Auxiliary. She is also active on CCVESA ’s and MSFA ’s fire prevention committees.

Brittany works part time at Carroll Hospital Center as an Emergency Care Technician and part time at Hereford Volunteer Ambulance Association in Baltimore County as an EMT-B.

Brittany is the third generation of active members in the Gamber & Community Fire Co. and forth generation of members in the Gamber Auxiliary. She is the daughter of Cheryl Hill of Westminster and Mike Hill also of Westminster and the granddaughter of Kenny and Bernice Linton. Kenny is a Charter Member of the fire company and Bernice is a Charter Member of the auxiliary. Brittany is the great-granddaughter of the late Hilda and Linwood Vaughn who were members of the fire company auxiliary.

The fire company congratulates Brittany as this year's scholarship winner and the membership wishes her well in her upcoming year at Carroll Community College.
