A working garage fire was the second serious fire in three days in Gamber & Community Fire Co.'s district. Companies were dispatched for this fire on Saturday, March 23, at 1:43 pm. First arriving units found heavy fire coming from three sides of a two-car garage attached to a single story rancher style dwelling.

A working fire dispatch was alerted along with requests for additional tankers and a rapid intervention team. Firefighters made entry into the garage and the house and had the fire knocked down within 15 minutes. The fire was declared under control at 2:40 pm but units remained on the scene to check for hot spots and extension into the house. They also had to open the garage roof to ventilate smoke and heat. The garage was a total loss and the house had smoke damage and some damage to walls.

There were two residents in the home who escaped on their own. Smoke detectors did activate and one homeowner was able to remove a car from inside the garage. The resident who removed the car had minor burns but refused treatment. There were no injuries to firefighters or other citizens.

A water supply source was set up at the Buc's Club pond on Bird View Rd. since the Cindy Lane neighborhood has no hydrants.

Deputies from the Office of the State Fire Marshal are investigating. The last units cleared the scene after 4:30 pm. An engine from the Reisterstown Volunteer Fire Co. in Baltimore County filled in the Gamber station during the incident.
