Armacost Avenue House Fire

By Public Information Officer Clay Myers
March 24, 2019

Carroll County fire units were alerted for a house fire on Armacost Avenue in Finksburg at 2:05 pm on Sunday, March 24. This was a single-family two-story frame dwelling located off Old Westminster Pike and Rt 140.

Chief 13-1 Alan Barnes arrived first and reported a working fire well-involved. He established command and requested a tanker task force and a rapid intervention dispatch. Gamber's Engine 131 arrived next with Westminster's Engine 31 just behind. The family was in the basement at the time of the fire and was able to evacuate safely. There were no reported injuries.

Engine 131 and Engine 33 made quick work on knocking down the fire and additional Carroll County and Baltimore County units assisted in extinguishing the fire, checking for extension, and overhauling. Tankers from several companies set up a water supply shuttle and a draft site was established at Dede Road.

Deputies from the Office of the State Fire Marshal are conducting the investigation.

Luckily someone banged on the door to alert person in the basement so that they & their pet could get much before fire company arrived.
