Members of the Gamber & Community Fire Company responded to several calls for service, including a fatality involving an elderly male found under a fallen tree in his driveway. The storms impacted the entire area with a house struck by lightening, multiple trees and wires down, and some utility poles were snapped causing widespread power outages. Six homes were reported to have damage to roofs. Several roads in the area were made impassable as result of the damage caused by the storm. It is not yet known if the storm damage was the result of a tornado or micro-bursts.
We remind all of our community members to use caution when performing tree removal and debris clean-up. If your home has received heavy damage as result of the storm, please consider having a licensed electrician perform a safety review of your electrical system to protect against a potential fire inside your home. |
