Members of the Gamber & Community Fire Company responded to several calls for service, including a fatality involving an elderly male found under a fallen tree in his driveway. The storms impacted the entire area with a house struck by lightening, multiple trees and wires down, and some utility poles were snapped causing widespread power outages. Six homes were reported to have damage to roofs. Several roads in the area were made impassable as result of the damage caused by the storm. It is not yet known if the storm damage was the result of a tornado or micro-bursts.

The Gamber & Community Fire Company members and staff are saddened at the loss of a long-time community member in the 2900 blk of Bloom Road in Finksburg. Although every effort was made to revive him, we were unsuccessful in our attempt and grieve with the family.

Roads closed due to the storm damage included a section of Route 32 (Sykesville Road), Bloom Road, Black Steer Drive, Bird View Road, Niner Road, Petunia Drive and Deer Park Road. State and County road crews are actively performing removal and restoration efforts to restore access throughout the area. BGE crews are working very hard to restore power to all homes affected as well.

We remind all of our community members to use caution when performing tree removal and debris clean-up. If your home has received heavy damage as result of the storm, please consider having a licensed electrician perform a safety review of your electrical system to protect against a potential fire inside your home.
