At approximately 5:15 p.m., members from Gamber & Community Fire Company along with multiple surrounding fire departments, responded to the scene today at 1900 Orion Drive in Finksburg for a reported house fire. First arriving units observed a two story single family home w/ an attached garage with smoke issuing out from the structure. Crews made an aggressive attack on the fire inside the garage after cutting through the locked aluminum garage doors. Additional crews entered the structure to ensure no one was inside the home. The fire was quickly brought under control and contained to the garage with minimal smoke damage inside the home. It was determined the home was recently purchased and under some renovations. The Office of the State Fire Marshal had deputies on the scene to investigate the origin and cause for the fire. No injuries were reported during the incident.

It is noted that the importance closed doors has when a fire occurs within a structure. The door to the house was closed during the incident and kept the fire from entering the living area of the dwelling. Pictures from inside the home and inside the garage of the closed door speaks volumes to how well a closed door can help stop the spread of fire and the toxins created while burning.
