Just after 6:00 PM, members and staff from Gamber and Reese Fire Departments responded to a head-on collision between a pick-up truck and a four-door sedan near the intersection of Sykesville Road and Cindy Lane. As result of the crash, both drivers were trapped inside their vehicles and crews used various hydraulic tools to extricate the patients. No other occupants were in either vehicle. The sedan was forced into the corn field while the pick-up truck still remained in the roadway. The extended extrication required the road to remain closed for a brief period of time. Maryland State Police Aviation landed at the site of the crash and transported both patients to Shock Trauma.
