The Gamber & Community Fire Company Dive Team held a training session on Sunday, February 28, 2010 at the Harlow pool at McDaniel College. Even though there were snow flurries outside, members enjoyed the warm water of the pool inside.
Team members who participated requalified on the basic skills required for diving, a 200 yard swim, 40 foot underwater swim, treading water for 5 minutes, retrieving a 5 lb. weight from 10 feet and floating for 5 minutes.
Members practiced with the Stokes basket and flotation system, the EXO 26 full face mask, underwater knot tying and neutral buoyancy. Afterwards, members worked on team building and cardio with a large exercise ball trying to keep it airborne, which is harder then it looks in water.
The Gamber & Community Fire Company Dive team would like to thank Kim Easterday and the staff at McDaniel College for their continued support and use of a great facility
