| On July 11, 2005, around 9:00 p.m. Gamber and Community Fire Company's Dive Team was alerted for a water rescue in Prettyboy Reservoir. Special Unit 13 with Boat 13-1 and Utility 13 with Boat 13 responded with 2 divers. Mike Rehfeld and Boomer (K9-13) also responded. Units from Hereford Fire Co. arrived with one subject that went underwater in the runoff from the dam and never resurfaced. Once the units arrived they met with command to find out what operations were going to consist of. Boomer and Mike were put to work right away, trying to narrow down the search area. Boomer is a specially trained K9 that alerts to subjects in the water, buried, or lost. Once Boomer was done searching, divers and swift water personnel entered the water to search for the missing male. An underwater search camera was used and found a spot for divers to check. Divers, around 1:30 a.m. in the morning, recovered the body of the missing male. Gamber Units returned at 3:00 a.m. |
