We are pleased to announce that Sarah Hancock of Finksburg, Maryland and Tyler Joyave of Westminster, Maryland have been named the co-winners of the 2010 - 2011 Oscar Brothers Memorial Scholarship Fund Award. The scholarship is jointly sponsored by the Brothers family and the Gamber & Community Fire Company. They will share the first year's $5000.00 award.

Sarah and Tyler were two very strong applicants and the selection committee had a challenging time deciding on the winner.

As part of the scholarship requirements, they will be required to complete 40 hours of community service each year, and they must maintain a 2.5 or better GPA at their schools.

Mrs. Virginia Brothers and members of the Brothers Family presented Sarah with her scholarship on Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at the firehouse. Sarah will be a freshman at Towson University. Sarah's older sister, Rebecca, won the scholarship in 2009-10 and is also attending Towson University.

Tyler has received his scholarship and he will be a freshmen at Carroll Community College. Tyler is an active member of the fire company, an EMT-B, and a firefighter. He was also a junior firefighter prior to advancing to the senior level.

We congratulate this year's winners for their excellent applications and we wish them well in their studies.
