On Monday June 16, 2014 in Ocean City, MD two members of the Gamber & Community Fire Co. were
recognized for their outstanding work in fire prevention and life safety.

Rose Pandolfini was awarded the Jane Todd “Firewoman of the Year” award which recognizes outstanding involvement in fire prevention within ones company and community. Rose was recognized for the countless fire department birthday parties that she assists with for children between the ages of 3 and 12.

Rose was selected from a group of entries from across the state of Maryland during the Maryland State Fireman’s Association Convention.

Bridget Weishaar was awarded the Silver Spring Award which recognizes an individual’s performance within the community on a single project. Bridget coordinated a smoke alarm canvas after 3 fires within the same neighborhood revealed none of the houses had working smoke alarms.

Bridget has continued this effort with a second canvas of a mobile home park after a fire and offering free smoke alarms to members of the community who do not have working smoke alarms.

Both of these awards are presented yearly during the Maryland State Fireman’s Convention in Ocean City, MD.

The Gamber & Community Fire Co. was recognized as a whole for their fire prevention efforts both with the smoke alarm canvas and their yearly program placing first in its class among several other fire departments across the state. In addition to these awards Gamber also received a $500 grant to purchase smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms to assist in their free smoke alarm program.

For more information about the free smoke alarm program please contact Bridget Weishaar at 443-375-0449.
