At 4:20 a.m. the Gamber & Community Fire Company responded to the scene of a reported dwelling fire located at 2814 Bird View Road in Westminster. First arriving units observed smoke emanating from the eaves of the roof upon arrival and requested a working fire assignment. The four occupants of the dwelling had safely evacuated the home prior to the arrival of the fire department. Additional personnel and equipment arrived on the scene from Sykesville, Reese, Westminster, Winfield, Lineboro, Reisterstown and Glyndon Volunteer Fire Departments. Crews entered the two story Cape Cod style home and attacked the fire in the first floor bathroom while separate crews went to the second floor to extinguish the fire as it extended upward from the bathroom and entered an attic crawl space at the rear of the home. The one alarm fire was quickly placed under control within 40 minutes. Crews remained on the scene to search out hot spots and perform overhaul.

The Office of the State Fire Marshal responded to the scene and determined the fire originated in the bathroom ceiling and the fire was a result of the ceiling mounted bathroom exhaust fan.

Engine 56 from Baltimore County's Franklin Station filled in at Gamber during the fire.
