NEW NEIGHBORHOOD SMOKE ALARM INSTALLATION

Members of the Gamber & Community Fire Company canvassed a portion of the Gamber community on Saturday, August 22, 2015 during a smoke alarm installation program. The focus area was side streets off of Wilda Drive in Westminster. Fire Company members offered free smoke alarm and carbon monoxide alarm inspections and installations where necessary.

The alarms were purchased with funds obtained from a grant through Firehouse Subs. Gamber was
awarded $3548.00 to purchase 200 i9010 10 year sealed lithium battery operated smoke alarms from
Kidde.

Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation is dedicated to impacting the life-saving capabilities and
the lives of local heroes and their communities. This addition of smoke alarms makes it possible to
continue our smoke alarm installation program within the Gamber community.

On Saturday five members of the department approached 23 homes from 9am until noon. The detail
was organized by EMS Lt and Fire Prevention Chair Bridget Weishaar. During the canvas we were able
to install 19 smoke alarms in 8 different residences. The Gamber & Community Fire Company received a
$50 donation during the smoke alarm installations.

Fire company members remind residents that any smoke alarm that is 10 years old or older should be
discarded and replaced. New, 10-year, sealed battery alarms are now required to be installed. There
should be a minimum of one smoke alarm on each level of the house and if possible, one in each
bedroom. At least one CO alarm should be placed outside the sleeping area in homes that have fuel fired heating units, water heaters, dryers, fireplaces, etc.

If anyone is in need of a home inspection or would like to have their smoke alarms inspected please contact EMS Lt Weishaar at ivt1308@msn.com or 443-375-0449.
