Gamber Scholarship Winner Announced

Members of the Gamber & Community Fire Co. are pleased to announce that Parker Kleb of Eldersburg, Maryland has been named the winner of the 2016 Oscar Brothers Memorial Scholarship Fund Award.

The scholarship is jointly sponsored by the Brothers family and the Gamber & Community Fire Company and it awards a total of $12,500.00 over four years. An additional $500.00 is awarded for each semester on the Dean’s List. This is the ninth year of the scholarship program.

As part of the scholarship requirements, the winner is required to complete 40 hours of community service each year and must maintain a 2.5 or better GPA in college. They also must reside in Gamber & Community Fire Co.'s first due district.

Parker graduated from Liberty High School with a 4.25 weighted GPA and he was 44th in his class out of 266. He took AP and honors courses at Liberty and was very active in extracurricular activities, sports, student government, and the National Honor Society. He is very active in the community and earned over 400 hours of community service while in high school in addition to working a part-time job at Safeway. He also won a Maryland Delegate Scholarship and was honored with a President’s Award for Academic Excellence.

He will be a freshman at University of Maryland, College Park, starting in the fall of 2016. His plans include studying biology and he will be in the Scholars Program at Maryland. Parker is the son of Julie and David Kleb of Eldersburg.

The fire company congratulates Parker as this year's scholarship winner for his excellent application and we wish him well in his studies at the University of Maryland.
