Gamber & Community Fire Co. Firefighter/EMT, Dylan Baker, graduated from the United States Navy basic training program on February 9. 2018. The Navy only has one location for boot camp: The Great Lakes Naval Training Center, which is located on the western shore of Lake Michigan, near Chicago. The Recruit Training Command processes more than 54,000 recruits through Navy Boot Camp, per year.

Attending Dylan's graduation on behalf of the fire company were Past Chief Tim Brown, Board of Director Joe Joyave, and Paramedics Mary Byrnes and Jackie Pickett. They attended in full uniform. Chief Brown reported that over 1000 seaman graduated boot camp that day. He said, "The ceremony was impressive. They had a division that carried every state flag and other territories. We went in uniform and sat on center stage with all the VIP’s."

Dylan shipped out to San Antonio, TX the next morning. He is currently in corpsman school at Fort Sam Houston. Upon graduating he will go to surge tech school then cross train to become an FMF (field marine fleet) corpsman and be deployed with the United States Marines. Fort Sam Houston is known as the "Home of Army Medicine" and "Home of the Combat Medic."

All members of the fire company wish Dylan best of luck as he continues his training.
