Crews from Gamber & Community Fire Company and neighboring fire departments were alerted for a house fire on London Bridge Road in Sykesville Friday evening. The initial call was dispatched at 6:49 pm for a house fire in the 3900 block.

First arriving crews from Gamber reported a dwelling with nothing showing from the front of the house. Upon further investigation, smoke was reported from the rear of the house from a possible basement fire.

Crews from Gamber assisted by Sykesville Freedom District Fire Department entered and made the initial attack into the basement and knocked down the fire. The basement was difficult to navigate due to the amount of storage inside.

Crews from multiple stations worked on extinguishing the remaining fire, ventilating smoke, and mopping up. Brush 95 from Reese set up a water supply source at the Gamber station but was not needed. An engine from Baltimore County Fire Department was alerted to transfer to Gamber but was cancelled before it arrived.

The Office of the State Fire Marshal was dispatched to investigate. The American Red Cross was also called to assist family members who were displaced. There were no injuries reported. All apparatus returned to service by 9:00 pm.
