Scheduled training took place early Saturday morning, May 21, 2022. At 9:00 am, firefighters and officers from Gamber participated in auto extrication drill training behind the station. Three vehicles were used in the simulated rescue drills. The vehicles were a small Ford pickup, a Jeep Cherokee, and a Ford Explorer. Participants did various evolutions with different tools and in one case, they rescued a life-like dummy from the Jeep and "prepared" the patient for transport.
This training was a refresher for experienced firefighters and officers as well as an introduction to vehicle extrication for newer members. The training was planned and coordinated by Lt. 13-1 Frank Smith and Lt. 13-3 Sean Baldwin. Assistant Chief 13-2 Chad Hastings also participated.
During the training, Gamber was alerted for two medical emergencies, the first at 9:50 am and the second at 12:10 pm. A motor vehicle collision was dispatched at 10:15 am. |
