Gamber & Community Fire Co. was alerted for a chimney fire at approximately 5:17 pm on Thursday, April 25. The fire was located on Christiana Drive in Finksburg, in a development off of Amanda Lane and Rt. 91. Additionally, units from Sykesville Freedom District Fire Department were dispatched on the initial alarm.

Chief 13, Chad Hastings, arrived and advised a working fire in the roof around the chimney with extension into the attic. He requested a full house fire assignment. This resulted in a working fire dispatch and rapid intervention team. Since this area has no fire hydrants, water supply was established at the underground water tanks located on Gamber's carnival grounds. An engine from Winfield established this water source. Additional tankers were included on the upgraded assignment.

With the assistance of neighboring fire companies and officers from the Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services, the fire was controlled within 20 minutes. Crews remained on the scene for overhaul and mop-up. They also assisted the homeowners with removal of personal belongings. There were no injuries reported.
