The report of a garage fire was made to the Carroll County 911 Center on Saturday, November 29 at 1:06 pm. Gamber & Community Fire Co. along with neighboring fire departments were alerted. The incident developed into a working garage fire with possible extension into the dwelling. The two-story wood frame house in the 1400 block of Woodridge Lane in Eldersburg had a connected two-car garage which was fully involved when the first units arrived on the scene.

Chief 12, Ed Ruck, from Sykesville Freedom District Fire Department, arrived first on the scene and took command. Sykesville units arrived next followed by apparatus from Gamber. A rapid intervention dispatch (RID) was also initiated. This brought additional units from Carroll County, Baltimore County, and Howard County. Units worked quickly to knock down the fire in the garage and to investigate inside the dwelling for extension of fire and smoke. There was one car in the garage and one on the driveway; both were destroyed in the fire. The fire was declared under control and eventually declared out before 3:00 pm.

During the operation, a water main broke on another section of Woodridge Lane. The water supply from fire hydrants in the neighborhood diminished but was never stopped. Additional tankers on the scene also provided water. Carroll County Public Works was dispatched for the water main break. BGE was requested to shut off power. The Office of the State Fire Marshal was also alerted to investigate.
