Gamber & Community Fire Co. is proud to announce that our new tanker has finally been delivered. After a very long wait, the new apparatus arrived on Friday, March 27, 2026. It was driven to its new home by members of the apparatus committee. The long commute from 4 Guys Fire Trucks in Meyersdale, PA took more than three hours as the committee members rotated drivers during the trip.

The new truck is an elliptical tanker. It’s mounted on a 2025 Kenworth T880 chassis with a poly tank wrapped in stainless steel and holds 3500 gallons of water. It also has a large-capacity portable folding tank and other appliances. Tanker 13 is powered by a Cummins X-15 diesel engine. It is a 6 cylinder power plant providing 565 HP. The pump is a 1500 GPM single stage Waterous pump. The tanker will be operated by a two-man crew.

The new tanker replaces the current unit, Engine/Tanker 133, which is a 2003 Pierce apparatus with a 2500-gallon tank. This unit is still for sale.

The New Apparatus Committee met with Bob Pursel of Commonwealth Fire Equipment Co., Winchester, VA back on October 18, 2023, and signed the initial contract. The chassis was delivered by Truck Enterprises in Hagerstown, MD to 4 Guys in October 2024. The truck was then manufactured by 4 Guys Fire Trucks in Meyersdale, PA and completed last week.

Members of the committee traveled to Meyersdale, PA on Friday to take delivery. They were provided with an orientation to the tanker and its operation. They also had the opportunity to drive it locally before bringing it home. Bob Pursel, the original sales representative, was also present at the delivery.

The fire company’s New Apparatus Committee is chaired by Chief Engineer Chuck Doyle. Also on the committee are past president Dale Bollinger, Chief Chad Hastings, Vice President and Past Chief Charlie Green, Assistant Chief Shawn Chenoweth, Assistant Chief Michael Green, and Lieutenant Emily Franklin.
