A two-alarm fire at a Battery Warehouse retail/storage facility challenged Carroll and Baltimore County firefighters on Monday, May 18. The first call was dispatched at 7:26 pm for smoke rolling out of the building.

First arriving units from Westminster reported a working fire and requested a rapid intervention dispatch. A 2nd alarm was requested later in the incident along with special requests for a foam unit, Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE), Hazmat units, a Decon Unit, BGE, and other specialty apparatus. Baltimore County's Rehab 156 responded to supply canteen. Deputy State Fire Marshals were on the scene investigating. Rt. 140 was closed down in both directions.

Engine 131 from Gamber was on the first alarm and set up on Rt 140 to supply hose lines. Medic 139 responded on the RID dispatch and Engine 134 responded on the 2nd alarm. Crews rotated in and out of the building during the incident. Rehab was established for those crews and decontamination procedures were also established for all firefighters.

Units from many Carroll County departments as well as Baltimore County responded. Crews were still on the scene late into the evening.
