| Carroll County fire units were dispatched for a house fire on Thursday, August 13, at 1:05 pm. The house was located on Old Washington Road in Westminster in Gamber's first due area, Box 13-16. This is very close to the boundary of Westminster's fire district. Carroll County 911 received multiple calls and there was a possibility of residents trapped.
First arriving Battalion Chief 101 declared a working fire with fire conditions on the second floor and through the roof. Engines 134 and 131, Tanker 13 and Lieutenant 13-3 responded along with units from neighboring companies and career staff from CCDFEMS.
Crews operated on the initial interior attack lines, provided water supply to the initial engines, and overhaul operations for approximately 3 hours. No residents were trapped in the fire.
Additional tankers were also dispatched to provide adequate water supply. Due to construction on Nicodemus Road, water supply was established at hydrants on the campus of Carroll Community College. Brush 105 from New Windsor was assigned to the task of refilling engines and tankers.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Office of the State Fire Marshal. Glyndon Volunteer Fire Department filled in with a reserve engine from Baltimore County. Gamber Auxiliary members provided canteen service to the firefighters and staff on the scene.
