Charter Member Wesley L. "Buddy" Lindsay Remembered

Wesley Leroy "Buddy" Lindsay, age 77, of Finksburg, passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2021, at home.

Born August 30, 1944, in Hanover, PA he was the son of the late Frank Leroy Lindsay and Ruth Mae Poole Lindsay. He was the loving husband of Sarah Elizabeth Covington Lindsay.

Buddy retired as a machinist quality control inspector from MAC Machine where he had worked for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1965-69. He was a charter member of Gamber and Community Fire Company where he had been very active over the years. Buddy was a member of Deer Park United Methodist Church, Smallwood, and a member of the Reisterstown American Legion Post #116.

Surviving in addition to his wife are stepsons and daughters-in-law: Rick and Robin Fischer and Daniel and Carol Evans Fischer; sister Barbara L. "Bobbie" Davis and husband Roy; Aunt Catherine "Kate" Gorsuch; step-granddaughter Sophie Fischer and step-great-granddaughter Kyla-Rae O'Reilly. He was predeceased by stepsons Kenneth Fischer and Stephen Fischer and brother Michael Lindsay.

Buddy was an active charter member of the fire company. Over the years, he served on the bingo committee and assisted at weekly bingo's selling tear-off games. He worked at the carnival each year and assisted fellow charter member Charlie Arnold at the ham wheel stand. Buddy is remembered for his cheerful personality and he was always ready with a quip.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 12 noon on Friday, September 17, 2021, at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville where a funeral service will follow at 12 noon Friday. Interment following in Harmony Grove Cemetery, (Klees Mill Road), Sykesville.

Those desiring may make memorial donations to Gamber and Community Fire Company, 3838 Niner Road, Finksburg, MD 21784 or to the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America, 375 Kings Highway North, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.
