| An afternoon chimney fire was dispatched for Gamber & Community Fire Co. and neighboring units at approximately 1:06 pm on Tuesday, March 4. The dwelling was located in the 4200 block of Jefferson Ave. in Sykesville.
Firefighters arrived and found a chimney fire with no extension onto the roof or into the house. Crews worked from the top of the chimney as well as inside the house to remove burning materials and to clear the chimney of creosote. Crews from Sykesville Freedom District Fire Department and Winfield Community Volunteer Fire Department assisted.
Homeowners are reminded to have a chimney inspection and/or a thorough cleaning done at least annually.
