The Gamber and Community Fire Company is proud to announce that Corresponding Secretary/Board of Director Shelby Jean Green was inducted into the Carroll County Volunteer Emergency Services Association (CCVESA) Hall of Fame on May 3, 2021. She was honored with a plaque and award at the fire company’s general meeting on May 17, 2021. CCVESA Secretary Marianne Warehime made the presentation.

Jeannie joined the Gamber & Community Fire Company in March of 1987. She became a Life Active Member in 2007.

She has been Corresponding Secretary/Board of Director since 1993. Jeannie has served on many committees, including:

Carnival Committee
County Convention Committee
Gun Bingo Committee, Co-Chairman
Gun Raffle Committee
Junior Committee

Santa Breakfast Committee

Along with the many committees and her position on the board Jeannie always finds time to help at almost every fundraiser. She also takes care of the little details that contribute to the smooth running of the fire company on a daily basis. She mentors new members and shares her knowledge and experience with all the members.

Positions held with The Auxiliary to Gamber & Community Fire Company:

President of the Auxiliary 1991-1994, 1997-2004, 2012-2017.
Numerous committees.

Jeannie has been involved in all aspects of the Auxiliary over the years. She has maintained active status in both the fire company and auxiliary during her membership at Gamber. She has been a delegate for the CCVESA County Convention for more than 15 years.

Jeannie has served on many CCVESA Auxiliary committees, including:
She proceeded through the chairs and became President in 2006. She is currently going through the chairs and is 1st Vice President.
She was also a delegate for the Maryland State Fireman's Association (MSFA) State Convention for more than 15 years.

Jeannie has been instrumental in almost every aspect of the fire service to both the community of Gamber and the county. She has put in numerous hours to help in any way that is needed. Whenever there is a question or a concern the response is to contact Jeannie. Many of the responsibilities she takes on go unrecognized, but she continues to do them for all the right reasons.

Jeannie’s father-in-law and mother-in-law were charter members of Gamber & Community Fire Company. Her parents, sibling, and nephews were/are active at Sykesville Freedom District Fire Department. Jeannie has two sons. Charlie is currently the Chief of Gamber & Community Fire Company and Michael is currently an active member. Jeannie has taught them both the importance of family and community service and it is obvious in their dedication to both. She also has two grandchildren.

The Board of Directors, officers, and members of the Gamber & Community Fire Co. are honored and proud to recognize Shelby Jean Green as a Hall of Fame Award Honoree!
