September 26, 2021

Junior firefighters from ten Carroll County fire companies participated in the annual Junior's Day at the Carroll County Public Safety Training Center in Westminster on Saturday, September 25, 2021. The event was not held in 2020 due to the pandemic.

Junior members participated in several demonstrations, training exercises, and contests. Senior firefighters from several fire companies participated, supervised, and instructed. Apparatus from five companies also were on hand. The schedule for the day was:

7:00 am - Registration
7:30-9:00 - Auto/patient extrication
9:00 - 12:00 - 4 learning stations - EMS, Ladders, Search and Rescue, and Engine Operations

Lunch

Afternoon - Competitions- Donning Turnout Gear, Hose Hook-Up, Bucket Brigade, and Battle of the Buckets

It was reported that all participants had a fun day full of training and competition.

Thanks to Gamber & Community Fire Co. 2nd Vice President, Chrissy Green, for the photos and details. Chrissy is also chairman of the Junior counselors at Gamber. Additionally, Gamber members who assisted were: Art Frotton, Brandon Tignor, Billy Dunton, Nick Blizzard, Rose Blair, Niki Solomon, and paid employee Kim Darby. Member Jimmy Love helped out Friday evening when the Gamber juniors slept in at the station.
