Charter member, Maurice E. "Bunky" Mitten, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2026 in Flat Rock, North Carolina at the age of 88.

Bunky was one of the original members of the Gamber & Community Fire Co. founded in the early 1960's.

Born April 21, 1937, in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Maurice Daniel Mitten and Doris Irene (Garver) Mitten. He was the husband of the late Nancy Lassiter Mitten who died in 2023. He graduated from Westminster High School in 1955 and then served in the United State Navy from 1957-1961. He then became a career firefighter in the Baltimore County Fire Department, assigned over the years to the Catonsville and Randallstown stations.

Friends may call on Monday, July 28, 2025, from 10 to 11AM at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville where a funeral service will follow at 11 AM. Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery, Gamber. In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
