A building fire was dispatched at approximately 7:18 pm on Wednesday, August 13. After some confusion about the location, it was determined to be a warehouse structure located beside Route 91, Emory Road, next to the Maryland Midland Railway tracks and the Patapsco River. The call was initially dispatched as a Gamber assignment, box 1309. It was corrected to be Reese box, 0906.
Units from Gamber, Reese, Reisterstown, Glyndon, Franklin, Westminster, Sykesville, Chestnut Ridge, and CCDFEMS were initially alerted. Chief 13, Chad Hastings, arrived on the scene, established command, and declared a working fire. A rapid intervention team was also dispatched. This brought additional staffing and apparatus to the scene.
Units on the scene discovered fire on the first floor in a four story brick and heavy timber construction building. The fire was quickly extinguished by Gamber and Reese units, Engine 134 and Engine 91. The interior of the building was open all the way to the roof with no floors. Units remained on the scene for overhaul, smoke removal, and investigation. Apparatus started to be released from the incident at approximately 9:00 pm while some remained later.
The Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
Engine 101 from New Windsor filled in the Gamber station during the incident.
